Southern bread pudding with cinnamon sauce recipe
I love the addition of the cinnamon sauce to this already amazing recipe. It’s like pouring icing down over an already sweet, dreamy and pillowy dessert in your mouth. The south really know what they are doing.
3 Cups Milk
6 Eggs (lightly beaten)
¼ Cups Butter
1 Cups Sugar
1½ Tablespoons Nutmeg
Pinch of salt
¼ Cups Raisins
½ Slices Day Old Bread (cubed)
1½ Cups Water
½ Cups Brown Sugar
½ Cups Sugar
1½ Tablespoons Cornstarch
2 Tablespoons Cinnamon
2 Tablespoons Butter
1½ Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
1.Preheat oven to 320 degrees.
2.Grease lightly with butter 9’x13′ pan or a 2 quart casserole dish.
3.In the bottom of the baking pandish cube the bread and place it in.
4.Sprinkle in the raisins.
5.Mix the eggs, milk, sugar and nutmeg in a large bowl.
6.Pour over bread mixture.
7.Dot it with butter.
8.Bake in all in the center of your oven for 75 minutes or until if you insert a knife in the center it comes out clean.
9.Serve it nice and warm with the delicious cinnamon sauce.
1.In a small pan mix the sugar, cinnamon and cornstarch.
2.Bring to a boil the water slowly, stirring constantly.
3.Boil another minute longer.
4.Remove from heat and add the butter and vanilla extract.
5.Pour over the baked pudding.
